FGS School Council Association E-News: Rain Barrel Fundraiser!
Earth Day is all about taking the time to "educate and activate the environmental movement across the globe". So today is a great day to think about purchasing a RAIN BARREL to help both our school and our planet.
Everyone needs a rain barrel!
- Save money and water - using rain water instead of tap water for outdoor use can reduce your water bill
- Better gardens - improve the health of your plants by feeding them with rain water instead of tap water that can contain chlorine and fluoride
- Protect the water supply - save water and decrease runoff
Orders can be placed at www.rainbarrel.ca/ForestGreen. There you can choose your barrels and accessories. Barrels are available in several colours and include a leaf/mosquito filter, an overflow adaptor and hose, and a spigot. Accessories such as extra long hoses and diverters are also available to purchase on the site and will be delivered at the same time.
Payment can be made on the rain barrel website by paypal when you place your order or with cash on delivery day in May. Prices vary depending on the colour, style and size of barrel.
All orders must be placed by May 1, 2019.
Orders can be picked up Thursday, May 16 from 3:00-7:00pm and Friday, May 17 from 9:00-Noon. Please ensure someone is available to pick-up the order as we have nowhere to store large items at the school.
Be sure to share with family, friends and neighbors that might be planning to purchase a rain barrel this year anyway so everyone can win!

Hats on for Mental Health Day - May 1
The Alberta Teachers’ Association, the Alberta Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association and Global Television continue to promote the mental health of children and youth through the campaign “Healthy Minds, Bright Futures.” As part of this campaign, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 has been designated Hats On! for Mental Health Day in Alberta’s schools.
On May 1st we are encouraging students, staff, parents and our community to show support for mental health awareness by wearing a hat on this day.
